I had graduated
from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic
College in the year of 1963 and was
subsequently licensed to practice in
Ontario. I originally established my
practice in the city of Chatham with a
second office in Thamesville. This second
office was maintained for a period of 16
years at which time the office and patients
were relinquished to the care of Dr.
McDiarmid who was beginning to practice in
Thamesville. I had taken numerous technique
courses sponsored by the College and
Association. The most recent being a
“technique tune up” and lastly the orthic
seminar just recently completed.
I had also
completed the first 36 hour post graduate
program in Occupational Health and
Chiropractic which had been offered by the
Ontario Chiropractic Association. I served
in the past as Secretary-Treasurer to the
Kent County Chiropractic Society for a
period of ten years. I had also been
selected by the National Board of Examiners
to participate in a practice study in 1992.
I was also selected as a provincial member
to participate in the Glenerin Conference
Consensus in April 1993. Locally I was the
first Chiropractor in Ontario to practice
from a Community Medical Clinic in
conjunction with an existing Medical
practice and the practice is still being
conducted in Thamesville at this time. I
believe that I was the first chiropractor to
be appointed to a district health council
and served as a regular member on the Kent
County District Health Council from 1982 to
1988 and during this tenure I was the
council representative on the Southwestern
Perinatal Council consensus group whose duty
it was to define second level hospital
perineonatal care for the Ministry of
Health. Also during this time I also was the
council representative to the University of
Western Ontario: The advisory Board for
Occupational Health and Safety Resource
Center. I am a commissioned Officer in the
Canadian Armed Forces Land Element with the
permanent appointment of Captain and carry
the decorations of C.D. and Order of St.
John. At this time I have been placed on the
active supplemental reserve. In conjunction
to the military involvement I am a member in
good standing of the Royal Canadian Military
Institute of Toronto, Military Institute of
Windsor and the Chatham Armory Officer’s
Mess. I am presently a senior active member
of the Chatham Rotary Club.
I have been
active in community service and presently I
am sitting on the board of directors of the
Chatham District St. John Ambulance. I have
also have served as Vise President of the
Chatham District Scout council for a term of
four years. |
